Glaucoma Surgery
Glaucoma surgery is a treatment method aimed at controlling and reducing intraocular pressure, which occurs due to fluid buildup and damage to the optic nerve.
Glaucoma, also known as “the silent thief of sight,” is one of the eye diseases in which the optic nerve is damaged due to factors such as increased intraocular pressure (abbreviated as eye pressure). Since the optic nerve is responsible for transmitting visual information to the brain, its damage leads (gradually) to a loss of visual field, and if the disease is left untreated and progresses, it can eventually result in complete blindness. Although glaucoma has no definitive cure, available treatments can control the disease, highlighting the importance of early examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
