Cystocele

Cystocele is a condition where the bladder wall protrudes into the vagina.

A bladder hernia or anterior vaginal wall prolapse, also known as cystocele, is the most common type of prolapse (protrusion) in women.
Symptoms of Cystocele:

  • Difficulty inserting a tampon or applicator
  • Trouble emptying the bladder
  • Frequent and urgent need to urinate
  • Protrusion of the bladder into or out of the vagina
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Sensation or visible protrusion/swelling of the vaginal canal
  • Painful intercourse
  • Feeling of fullness, heaviness, or pain in the pelvic area or lower back: this feeling may worsen throughout the day or when standing, lifting objects, or coughing.

In this surgery, performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia, the excess tissue causing swelling in the vaginal area is removed.
Rectocele-Cystocele surgery is carried out in the operating room by an obstetrician-gynecologist to repair rectum and bladder prolapse and takes 30 to 60 minutes. The result of this surgery is permanent and significant.
