Strabismus surgery
Strabismus is an eye problem that causes the eyes to be misaligned, meaning that when one eye is looking straight ahead, the other eye is turned inward, outward, up, or down. Sometimes the turned eye returns to its original, straight position, and the straight eye is out of position. This misalignment may be obvious and permanent, or it may only occur occasionally.
The goal of strabismus treatment is to preserve vision, straighten the eyes, and restore binocular vision. Depending on the cause of strabismus, treatment may include prescription glasses, cataract removal, or correction of other underlying causes of the deviation or repositioning of the imbalanced eye muscles.
